Dream Home (s)

A couple of recurring dreams that I have had for some years now both recurred again last night.
For years now I've wanted to help my closest friend to rebuild his home, a former shotgun style house. He had it moved from it's original site to a new one years ago. It was cut in two and moved about 10 miles to where it sits now. all the walls and ceiling save the framing had been removed so what was left was a raw shell with tons of potential. I have always wanted to see his vision turned into reality. He had passed away three years ago now and I still wish to help to make what he wanted for his family. My dream has always been a sort of fast forward of bringing in a crew and watching the house come together, being filled with furnishings and lived in. Even converting the large attic area into a room for his son. Then watching the decrepit house  that his family had been living in being bulldozed. I hope this does happen someday and soon.

My second dream which was oddly related to the first, an event that as far as I know rarely happens, was of a personal desire of mine, to design and build my own home.

A large pine wooded property of  a number of acres and a small lake, full of fish, that I had built, with a pier and a sand beach. the house would overlook the lake. It is partially in ground with the front of the house all in glass, french door entrances to the front facing rooms.Walls at each end curve in to form a courtyard, with various plants and small trees filling the area out. A tall peaked roof that tappers to the left and right with glass panes that can be opened out onto a narrow wrought iron porch where hanging plants could be placed centers the front. On the inside a wrought iron spiral staircase leads to the landing that would allow you to open the windows and allow you to look over the large living room. The ceiling is what looks like exposed oak beams. Across the right side wall are custom bookshelf's. A hall goes off to the right that leads to a restroom and a bedroom, the bedroom is at the front. Towards the back of the living room, a large see through stone fireplace that acts as a wall that separates the living room from a dining area and kitchen a long dining table near the fireplace, lots of cabinet space across the walls. a window stretches across the back wall as well. It looks out into a solarium full of tropical plants and a swimming pool. to the right a door leads to the laundry and utilities with more storage. To the left of the living area a long hall way connects two more bedrooms a bath and an office, at the end of the hall is the master bedroom that stretches the width of  the end of the house. It includes a large bath with garden tub and a private entrance to the solarium.

Hey, if your going to dream, dream big. I've dreamt of this house so many times that I have plans drawn up for it. Sweet dreams of a home sweet home.

  1. I love these dreams. I also dream of what might be (especially if I win the lottery)... Maybe "if you dream it, it will come true..." Where would you locate your dream house?

  2. I've always wanted a few (30-40) acres of possibly pine grove. As I had said I've been having these dreams repeatedly for years now, they had started when I lived in Missouri and have continued on til now. I would prefer a warm climate like here in Florida (though it is "not" all that warm here today). What really stinks is that I had a lone accepted from a bank in Missouri to build the house on the acre of land that was given to me. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately my spouse at the time had no patience and wanted a home with all the utilities and furniture in it immediately. I was willing to sleep on the floor for a time to have such a house. Even the head of the bank was impressed with the plans (this is bigger then my house, he said). She got a trailer instead because I wasn't going to argue.
